New Headwaters rod fishing report
While I was in Houston for a Christmas visit with the family, I snuck out to a manmade pond at my mother-in-laws office. Not exactly the most serene natural setting but it would have to do. I brought my new Headwaters bamboo 5 wt rod to try out.
Conditions were a bit nasty with drizzle and wind up to gusts in the 20 ish mph range but I desparately wanted to try out the new rod.
After I got used to casting it, I loved the feel. It was hard to cast larger wooly buggers but a joy for smaller streamers and bh nymphs. The wind made it hard for me to judge as well because my casting skills leave a lot to be desired. Overall, I think I love the rod. I still have a vintage style reel coming that is on backorder.
I ended up catching about 15 small bass and 2 or three panfish. Some pics from my iPhone below.
